Cheryl McDonald

Political platform statement

My name is Cheryl McDonald, and I’m running for a one-year school board seat and two Trustee positions. As a U.S. Army veteran and long-time Allenstown resident of 44 years with children who attended our schools, I have a deep connection to our community. I bring extensive community service experience, having served as a Trustee of Trust Funds and the Cemetery Trust Fund for three years and on the Budget Committee for the past two years. I also hold a degree in Public Administration.

I recently retired after 39 years in the insurance industry, working in arbitration, mediation, budgeting, project management, property and casualty, employee benefits, training, and technology. These diverse experiences have provided me with a solid foundation to make informed decisions on the school board.

I am running to work collaboratively with fellow board members to continue improving our students' educational outcomes, supporting our dedicated staff and administrators, and managing our budget responsibly. I hope to foster greater collaboration, enhance parental involvement at board meetings, and create a respectful, open environment. One priority is implementing strategies that educate parents on the daily workings of our schools; effective feedback and communication are key to our success.

Our community faces challenges in education funding, as evidenced by the proposed HB 283. With active community involvement, we must continue to make our voices heard.

I ask for your vote on March 11th. Thank you for your support and trust in our shared future.
