Hooksett’s Scouts BSA Troop 292 has an exciting lineup of activities planned for the coming months!
In November, the troop will join other local scouting units for the annual Scouting for Food Drive, collecting donations for the Hooksett Food Pantry to help neighbors in need. Later in the month, scouts will head outdoors for their traditional Turkey Roast Campout, where they’ll cook a full Thanksgiving meal in the woods while practicing cold-weather camping and shelter-building skills.
December brings more opportunities for service and adventure. The troop will assist with the Festival of Trees during Hooksett’s Light Up the Village event, and later, they’ll travel to Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA, for an overnight stay aboard a World War II battleship—learning firsthand about naval history and service.
In January, the scouts will enjoy a fun indoor video game weekend, “camping” in a church basement with games and movies, while also lending a hand at the Kiwanis Winter Carnival.
Looking ahead, Troop 292 has even more adventures planned: a Klondike Derby winter camping trip, a spring visit to a scout camp in Jaffrey to welcome new members, a hiking and camping trip in the Belknap Range, a lake outing at Pawtuckaway State Park, a canoe trip on Maine’s Saco River, and a summer filled with exciting activities.
As Hooksett’s original scouting unit, Troop 292 welcomes all boys ages 11–17. The troop will celebrate its 75th anniversary next summer, continuing a proud tradition of outdoor adventure, community service, and leadership development.
Troop meetings are held Thursdays from 6:30–8:15 p.m. at Cawley School, with monthly camping trips and service projects throughout the year. New members are always welcome—come check out a meeting, email info@troop292nh.com, or visit www.troop292nh.com to learn more!
