HOOKSETT – Hooksett’s Scouts BSA Troop 292 has had a busy and fun-filled fall, and has many more adventures planned in the coming months.
After an amazing week at summer camp at Hidden Valley Scout Camp, they kicked off the new scouting season with a trip to Vermont’s Wilbus State Park in September. The Scouts enjoyed beautiful weather for hiking in the park, fishing, and kayaking on the Connecticut River to visit an island for a swim.
After a rainy day at Hooksett’s Old Home Day, they prepared for another perfect weather weekend in October for backpacking in the foothills of the Belknap Range.
This month they’ll be camping at Camp Carpenter for their annual Turkey Roast, cooking an entire Thanksgiving feast in the woods.
Upcoming trips for the rest of the season include an overnight on the USS Intrepid, a retired aircraft carrier docked in New York City; a winter camping weekend in January to test their winter camping and Scout skills against troops from all over the state; a 50-mile bike trip on Cape Cod; a weekend camping and visiting the NE Air and Sub Force museums in Connecticut; and a week-long trip to Acadia National Park in Maine.
The Scouts will also be participating in a number of service projects around town to give back to their community.
Troop 292, Hooksett’s original, award-winning Scout troop, welcomes any boys between 11-17 years old to come join the fun and adventures. We hold weekly meetings on Thursday evenings at Cawley School, spend a weekend every month camping, and have regular service projects. The Scouts learn life and leadership skills and have tons of fun in the process.
Stop by any weekly meeting to meet the Scouts and learn more about the program, see http://troop292nh.com, or email info@troop292nh.com.
We are also recruiting for a new troop for girls – contact us if you’re interested!
