Hooksett’s Hometown Hero: Jeff Hamilton

A man whose quiet example helps a town grow strong

Some heroes don’t look for recognition—they simply live their values each day. And sometimes, it takes someone close to them to help the rest of us see just how extraordinary they are.

That’s exactly what Ayvree Hamilton has done for her father, Jeff Hamilton of Hooksett, in her heartfelt nomination for this month’s Hometown Hero. Most of what follows are her own words—words that speak volumes about a man who has quietly shaped his community, one garden, one classroom, and one act of kindness at a time.

A Family Rooted in Hooksett

Morality, honesty, integrity, compassion, and humility—all of these could easily describe the Hamilton family.

The Hamiltons have lived in Hooksett for more than twelve years, tucked away on what some affectionately call “the other side of the river,” the quieter side of town. It’s fitting for Jeff, who prefers peace over praise and leads not with words, but with example.

Jeff tends not only to his own garden but also to the Congregational Church of Hooksett’s garden, where he grows and shares produce freely with the community. During the holidays, he collects evergreen scraps from Christmas-tree lots and crafts festive boughs tied with ribbon—again, offered at no charge to neighbors and parishioners alike.

As the church’s Moderator, Sunday School teacher, and bread-delivery volunteer for the church’s monthly community meal, Jeff embodies faith in action. Every role he takes is performed with quiet grace and unwavering love for people.

Ayvree’s Words:
A Daughter’s View of a Hero

“My dad, Jeff Hamilton, has been a large contributor to the community since before we moved into Hooksett over 12 years ago,” writes Ayvree.
“He’s able to touch all aspects of our community—schools, youth, the environment, and town organizations.”

At Cawley Middle School, Jeff has spent six years inspiring Hooksett’s seventh graders to explore science and discover their own potential. Beyond the classroom, he leads Student Council and the Animal Keeping Club, helping students build confidence, leadership, and empathy through service.

Coach Jeff: Building Character Beyond the Classroom

“While many youth know him through his teaching role,” Ayvree continues, “many others know him as Coach Jeff.”

Whether coaching softball, field hockey, track, or basketball, Jeff’s lessons go well beyond athletics. He encourages his players to believe in themselves, face challenges head-on, and lift each other up.

“If you stand next to the bench or team huddle,” she adds, “you’ll hear him constantly encouraging his players—allowing them to work through challenges with a guiding hand, to become leaders, and to find their voices.”

Through his guidance, Hooksett’s young athletes not only grow as competitors but as compassionate, community-minded individuals who carry his lessons into their lives off the field.

The Gardener’s Rule of Thirds

Outside of teaching, coaching, and family, Jeff’s favorite sanctuary is his garden. But even here, his generosity shines.

“He lives by a gardening rule of thirds,” Ayvree explains. “A third of the plants go to the animals, a third we keep, and a third we give away. If you drive along our road, you may find an umbrella up at the end of our driveway and some fruits and vegetables for the taking.”

That simple philosophy says everything about Jeff Hamilton—a man who believes life’s blessings are meant to be shared.

“My dad believes in leaving his surroundings better than he found them,” Ayvree concludes. “He’s helped shape countless people through his support and kindness. He’s my hometown hero because he exemplifies what it means to live a life that lifts others and how to be a truly good person.”

It’s rare to read such a powerful tribute from a daughter to her father. Through Ayvree’s words, we see the many layers of Jeff Hamilton’s quiet leadership—the teacher who inspires curiosity, the coach who nurtures confidence, the church member who serves without expectation, and the gardener who shares what he grows.

Hooksett is richer for having both Jeff and Ayvree in its community—a father who lives to serve, and a daughter wise enough to recognize and celebrate it.

Celebrating the Good Among Us

As Ayvree so beautifully reminds us, goodness doesn’t need a spotlight to shine. It lives in quiet actions, kind gestures, and humble hearts. Jeff Hamilton exemplifies all of that and more.

If you know someone like Jeff—a neighbor, friend, or loved one—who deserves recognition as a Hometown Hero, please reach out for the next issue. Let’s continue to share the good happening right here in Hooksett.

Keep smiling, Hooksett!
